When the sun rises in the Overworld (world.isDay()), bats activate photophobia. Bats will refuse to remain in exposed areas where daylight reaches (Sky Light > 0). Instead, they search for dark subterranean caverns or dense overhangs (Sky Light == 0 and Block Light <= 7).

BatRoostHelper dynamically evaluates ceiling blocks suitable for inverted hanging:
- Pointed dripstone tips (
#minecraft:pointed_dripstone). - Ceiling-mounted chains (
minecraft:chain) and iron bars. - Lantern bases (
minecraft:lantern,minecraft:soul_lantern). - Leaves in dark forest canopies.
- Any solid opaque block underside with clear air underneath.
