Q1: Why are bats not spawning in my world?
- Check the active GameRule value using
/gamerule better-bats:bat_spawn_weight. If set to0, spawning is completely disabled. - Remember that surface spawning requires nighttime or dark forest overhangs (
Sky Light <= 7) over valid spawn blocks (#minecraft:bats_spawnable_on).
Q2: Why are changes in better-bats.json not taking effect in my existing world?
Config file options provide default values for newly created worlds. In existing worlds, GameRules take precedence. Use /gamerule or the in-game World Edit GameRules screen to update settings on an active world.
Q3: Why do bats scatter suddenly in caves?
Bats possess acoustic sensitivity. Sprinting without sneaking, exploding TNT, or mining blocks nearby triggers the panic scattering response (BatPanicGoal).
